Let’s Talk Turkey

This is the time of year when many grocery stores run special promotions, which include free or highly discounted turkeys. My advice is to take the turkey and run. Run directly to the butcher counter. Ask the butcher to cut the turkey in half and to repackage it into two freezer-ready packages.

Now, you have the main dish for two upcoming festive meals during the coming year.

Want smoked turkey but don’t have a smoker? Call your favorite restaurant to see if they will smoke it for you. Then take your frozen half-turkey to them to be thawed and smoked.

Evolution, 12th Edition Thrifty Thanksgiving Wine Selection
Sokol Blosser Evolution, 12th Edition (about $15)
This is the 12th bottling of the 9 grape blend. It is smooth, food-friendly and delicious. While each edition has its own personality, I’ve come to count on this clean-tasting white wine is my go-to selection for Thanksgiving dinner, with spicy Asian dishes and just for sipping. Try it. You’ll smile at the clever packaging and inspirational liner notes….”Chill. Pour. Sip. Chill.”

Wishing you a wonderful holiday week with your family and friends.
