Thrifty Thursday – Where to Recycle Your Phone Book
How to recycle your phone book and other items
A couple of months ago, we shared ideas on how to streamline and declutter your mailbox. After that posting my sister, the green queen, emailed to ask about how to properly get rid of old phone books. Great question, in this age of advanced search options and online white pages the phone book sits on the shelf unused. Can we/dare we ask not to receive the next update?!? And can we curbside recycle our existing copies?
The answer is yes – you can recycle your phone book and yes you can cancel delivery of the next update! Some online research leads to the Green Team at the Ideal Bite and they recommend:
- YellowPagesGoesGreen – enter your info here to get your name off the mailing list.
- Earth 911 – recycle your old phonebooks (if you have curbside recycling, just toss them in there, if you don’t click on Earth 911, enter item you want to recycle and your zip code for a listing of local recycling options).
As we approach Earth Day 2009 (April 22, 2009) sign-up for daily green tips at Ideal Bites. They will send you easy eco-living tips and ideas in a daily email.
