I’ve seen the light….and it’s compact flourescent

Earlier this week, our youngest son was doing his usual multi-tasking….watching tv, doing his homework, texting friends, talking to us….when suddenly he piped up about our light bulbs.  No seamless segue, no smooth transition, just a “how come all of our light bulbs aren’t compact floursecents?”

I looked up at our recessed can lighting and said “well, I’ve changed out the regular bulbs, but I don’t think you can find CF recessed can lighting.”

I’m not sure why I thought that, but the next day I hopped on to Google (thank goodness for Google, for the millionth time today!) and lo and behold, there ARE CF recessed can lighting options now!!  I ran over to my local Home Depot, old version of light bulb in hand, to make sure i got the right size.

It was a little complicated installing them, using my long reach tool to swap out ceiling bulbs.  And yes, I managed to crash a few of them (yikes!  they’re expensive!) but now that they’re all in, I’m feeling good about it.  The quality of the light is excellent.  The only thing to get used to is that when the lights come on, they are a bit dull…..it takes about 15 seconds for them to really charge up and emit their beautiful energy conscious light.

Its a great feel-good, do-good, see-good thing to do.   Check it out!!
