Mama Says & iwearyourshirt.com Recap

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Jason Sadler wore a Mama Says apron on August 23, 2009 — here are the highlights…..

“I know my mom is a very good cook, but I don’t have the same skills in the kitchen. That may all change today with the recipe collection I received from Mama Says. Not only is a fun way of looking at recipes, but a bunch of delicious sounding dishes.” explained Jason Sadler, iwearyourshirt.com.

Here’s a video of Jason and his business partner Evan White cooking with the Mama Says Recipe Collection.

To celebrate the day we held a Mama Says contest inviting people to leave a comment with their “Mom” made dish – that special meal Mom or Grandma made/makes that you crave or holds fond memories of home.  Thank you for sharing your favorite food and food memories with us, if you missed the action – click here to see the original post and the submissions. . We are sending copy of the Mama Says, “No More Frozen Pizza!” recipe collection to the winner of the Pictionary game and winner (a name selected at random from the comments) of the “Mom” made dish contest will receive an AMEX gift card. Now that’s a fun day!

Jason and Evan, thanks for joining us in the kitchen.

Wedding Shower – a great (thrifty) gift idea

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Apparently, it was a popular tradition in the Victorian Era to place a sixpence in the bride’s shoe to bring the couple wealth and good fortune.

Once a truly thrifty gift, a sixpence from the 1920′s is now worth about $75.  Not exactly a thrifty (or useful) gift.

So what to give?  Most newlyweds get to spend a nice long time in the spotlight – they’re the new “it” couple, the newly engaged bride and groom to be.  Lots of parties, lots of celebrations (including their wedding shower!).  But then what?  The big day arrives…..and leaves.   Post-wedding day depression?

One great way to help the new couple get over the blues is to get them the kind of gift that gives  them something to do together, like spend time together in the kitchen.   Mama Says “No  More Frozen Pizza!” is exactly the kind of thrifty (only $18.99!!) and fun gift to give.  The recipes are simple, healthy, quick and easy to make, and have just the right amount of chopping, slicing and dicing for two.  If you really feel creative, you can add some kitchen towels – these bar mop towels are my all time faves.

Give a great shower gift, stay within your budget, and give the newlyweds something fun to do to help them get over the “i’m no longer the center of attention blues”…..maybe you’ll even get invited over for dinner!!

Mama Says…in the news

If you want to know where to go, what to eat, what to do, what’s (and who’s) in and out, what to wear and what’s REALLY going on in our big city, you absolutely have to read Atlanta Magazine. It’s THE repository of style, dining, fashion, shopping, real estate and much much more.

And in case you’re wondering what Jennifer Senator is blogging about today on Bites and Flights, you’ll just have to go and check it out. (I’ll give you a hint…..MAMA SAYS, “More Frozen Pizza! ….go check it out!!!)

Groovy.

How many people does it take…

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

to unload 7,000 pounds of cookboxes? The mamas not only found that out yesterday, but also found out how many boxes you can put in a minivan (ALOT), how much you can sweat in 1 1/2 hours (ALOT), and how many muscles you use shlepping 167 boxes that weigh 50 pounds each (ALOT!!!).

They ALSO found out how yummy a 1994 Turley Zinfandel tastes when you are finally launching your new business.

Our initial shipment of 5,000 “No More Frozen Pizza!” cookboxes have arrived! It’s amazing how a suburban basement can turn so efficiently into a warehousing and distribution center. (Actually, the best part is that we baked chocolate chip brownies just before the boxes came, so we had our “break room” fully operational as well!)

Thanks to those who’ve already purchased – the cookboxes are flying off the shelves! Keep those orders coming, and don’t forget two more REALLY IMPORTANT things – 1. forward the email to everyone you know, and 2. come join us in the kitchen and blog with us.
